Two Revenue Officials, Beneficiary Booked for Fraudulent Land Mutation in Samba: ACB

Jammu, Apr 13: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir has registered a case against two revenue officials and a private beneficiary over the fraudulent mutation of over 10 acres of government land in Samba district.
An ACB spokesperson said that Tarsem Lal, the then Tehsildar of Vijaypur, and Zassin Malik, the then Patwari of Gurha Slathia, along with beneficiary Rameshwar Singh and others, have been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and other applicable laws.
The case pertains to the illegal attestation of mutation of 81 kanals and 19 marlas of land in village Rajinder Singh Pura, Vijaypur Tehsil, in favour of Singh as a tenant. The mutation was carried out in violation of the Agrarian Reforms Act and government guidelines on state land protection.
Verification revealed that portions of the land recorded as state land were wrongfully transferred to the beneficiary, bypassing eviction procedures. Additionally, discrepancies were found between earlier land records (Jamabandi 1995-96) and the 2015 mutation entries.
The concerned patwari allegedly concealed key facts in the mutation report. The divisional commissioner, Jammu, has since nullified the illegal mutation entries and ordered corrections, confirming the violations by the officials involved.
