NEW DELHI/ JAMMU, JANUARY 25: On the eve of 75th Republic Day, Hon’ble Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah launched E-Bus Services for Jammu Smart City, through virtual mode, today.

Union Home Minister also handed over appointment letters to 209 candidates of J&K selected through Combined Competitive Exams and released 885 compassionate appointment letters on the occasion.

Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, in his address, expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah for giving highest priority to overall progress of J&K UT.

He said the 100 e-Buses dedicated to the people of the UT today will transform smart mobility in Jammu city and connected areas, and improve quality of life for the citizens.

Today, 885 compassionate appointment letters were released, which is a testimony to our commitment to ensure families of martyrs and hardworking employees live a life of dignity, the Lt Governor said.

He assured the people of Jammu Kashmir to fast track the process of the compassionate appointments of the remaining cases.

“It is our commitment to wipe tear from every eye and ensure happy and successful life for every family,” he said.

On the occasion, the Lt Governor highlighted the efforts of the UT Administration towards socio-economic empowerment of every section of the society, especially the youth of Jammu Kashmir.

He said the entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities provided to 94,680 youth in a single day on 24th January has scripted a golden chapter in the history of J&K.

Merit based and transparent recruitment has enabled the talented youth of J&K to shape their own destiny. After August 2019, 31,830 appointments were made and recruitments for 12,264 posts are under process, the Lt Governor further added.

Under the guidance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, we are making earnest efforts to realise the potential and dreams of the people of J&K, the Lt Governor said.

Gulam Ali Khatana – Members of Parliament; Sh Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Union Home Secretary; Sh Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary, senior officials of Government of India and UT Administration were present, in person and through virtual mode.

Dulloo administers pledge to officers on 14th NVD

JAMMU, JANUARY 25: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo today administered ‘Voter’s Pledge’ to the officers/officials of the Civil Secretariat here on the occasion of 14th National Voters’ Day (NVD), 2024.

The pledge ceremony was attended by all the Administrative Secretaries, Secretaries in various Departments besides other officers and officials of the Civil Secretariat here.

Srinagar based officers participated through video conferencing.

Like last year the theme of NVD 2024 has been set as ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote For Sure’. The Day is celebrated to renew the faith of the citizens of the nation in democracy and it’s traditions here.

It also beckons the voters to participate in this democratic process with dignity ensuring free, fair and peaceful elections. The pledge also encourages them to vote in every election fearlessly without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or other inducements.

Pertinent to mention here that since 2011 the National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on January 25 every year, across the country to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950.

Dedicated to the voters of the country, the National Voters’ Day is also used to facilitate enrolment of voters, especially the newly eligible young voters. It also witnesses their felicitation and handing them over their freshly prepared Elector Photo Identity Cards(EPIC) in the NVD functions held across the country.

10 Prisons’ officials get DG Prison Medal on Republic Day eve

JAMMU, JANUARY 25: In recognition of consistent and outstanding performance, 10 officers and officials of Prisons Department have got Director General’s Prison Medal on the eve of Republic Day, 2024.

JKRLM SHGs invited as “special guests” to witness the Republic Day Parade, 2024 at Kartavya Path

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 25: Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted under Jammu & Kashmir Rural livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) popularly known as UMEED J&K have been invited as “Special Guests” to witness the Republic Day Parade, 2024 at Kartavya Path, New Delhi.

Nine self-help group members, accompanied by their spouses, will be attending the Republic Day event on 26th January 2024. These SHGs, hailing from rural areas of UT of Jammu & Kashmir, have not only transformed their own lives through dedication and perseverance but also played a crucial role in uplifting their communities through collective efforts.

The presence of JKRLM Self-Help Groups as special guests at the Republic Day Parade not only highlights their achievements but also showcases their dedication and the potential of community-driven initiatives in driving inclusive growth and uplifting marginalized sections of society.

Speaking about this remarkable achievement Mission Director Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission, Indu Kanwal Chib said that ,this invitation marks a historic moment for the self-help groups under JKRLM. It symbolises the recognition and appreciation of their hard work and dedication towards creating a positive impact in their communities.

The presence of our SHGs as a special guests in the Republic Day Parade is a momentous occasion that showcases the resilience and determination of these women. It is a celebration of their success stories and a testament to their ability to overcome challenges and break barriers,” she added.

Adding further MD said that this opportunity will not only inspire the self-help group members but will also serve as an inspiration to many women across the country. Another SHG member Shezada Bano from Kupwara said that being invited as special guests at the Republic Day Parade is a dream come true for all of us. This recognition embodies our journey towards self-reliance and affirms the immense potential within rural communities to create positive change. We are grateful for the support and opportunities provided by JKRLM, which have empowered us to showcase our skills and contributions on a national platform.

Tirth Kumar, spouse of an SHG member from District Udhampur , expressing his joy said that earlier, we used to watch the Republic Day Parade on television, but now we have the opportunity to witness it live as special guests.This is an overwhelming and immensely happy moment for us. We are both emotional and grateful for this honor. I got this opportunity because of my wife, who has been a SHG member of JKRLM for the past five years, and I am very happy and excited at the same time.
