Union Home Minister Amit Shah Arrives in Jammu for 3-Day Visit to J&K

Jammu, April 6, 2025 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jammu today, marking the start of a significant three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. He was warmly received at Jammu Airport by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior BJP leaders, and top officials of the Union Territory administration. The visit, commencing on Sunday, is set to focus on reviewing the security situation, assessing development initiatives, and engaging with local stakeholders.
During his stay, Shah is expected to tour a forward post along the India-Pakistan border, underlining the central government’s priority of achieving zero infiltration and bolstering security in the region. On Monday, April 7, he is scheduled to visit the BSF Border Outpost Vinay in Kathua to assess the ground situation and meet with security personnel. Later that day, he will meet the families of Jammu and Kashmir Police martyrs at Raj Bhavan in Jammu, where he will also present appointment letters to some individuals selected on compassionate grounds.
The Home Minister’s itinerary includes high-level meetings in both Jammu and Srinagar. On Sunday evening, Shah will attend a meeting with BJP MLAs and office bearers in Jammu to discuss party affairs and regional development. On Tuesday, April 8, he will travel to Srinagar, where he is slated to chair a security review meeting with top officials, including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, heads of intelligence agencies, and paramilitary forces. This meeting will focus on strategies to eliminate terrorism and ensure stability in the Union Territory. Additionally, a separate session at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar will evaluate ongoing development programs, with a special emphasis on preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled from July 3 to August 9.
Officials have indicated that Shah’s visit reflects the Modi government’s commitment to peace and progress in Jammu and Kashmir. His agenda aligns with the administration’s goals of rooting out terrorism and fostering economic and infrastructural growth. Security measures have been heightened across the region in anticipation of his visit, which concludes with his return to New Delhi on the afternoon of April 8.
