Young Man from Jammu Thrown from Train for Stopping Smoking: Now Battling for Life

Ludhiana, India: Tushar Thakur, a young man from Jammu, was traveling to Ahmedabad for an SSB interview when a horrific incident occurred. After stopping a group of youths from smoking inside the train, he was thrown out of a moving train near Ludhiana. Tushar, now in ICU with a damaged spinal cord, is fighting for his life.In a typed statement to the police, Tushar detailed the incident: “In the train, I went to the washroom where three persons, including one turbaned man, all looked my age. They were smoking cigarettes. I asked them not to smoke inside the train. When I came out, the three boys held me and pushed me out of the moving train. After falling, I don’t remember anything, but if I see those persons, I will recognize them…. I was on ventilator for nearly a month. Today also, I am having pipes in my nose and neck for food and oxygen support due to which I have speaking limit, but I am able to type properly.”

This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures in trains. Installing CCTV cameras in all train coaches is imperative to ensure passenger safety. The Railways must thoroughly investigate this incident and bring the culprits to justice to ensure such a tragedy does not happen again.This case calls for immediate action to protect passengers and uphold justice for Tushar.
