Jammu, March 14, 2026: Security forces, including the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Border Security Force (BSF), have launched a large-scale search operation in forward villages of Samba district following the detection of a suspected Pakistani drone that briefly crossed the International Border (IB) into Indian territory. According to official sources and multiple media reports, the drone was spotted hovering for a few minutes late Friday night (March 13, 2026) over villages in the Ramgarh sector, including Kandral, Abtal, and Bahadurpur.
The intrusion triggered immediate countermeasures, with forces activating anti-drone systems and initiating thorough ground searches to rule out any airdropping of arms, narcotics, or other contraband. No recoveries have been reported so far, and the drone is said to have retreated toward the Pakistan side after the brief incursion. The operation remains active in the affected border areas, with heightened vigilance along the IB amid ongoing tensions. This incident comes amid a pattern of similar drone sightings in Samba and nearby districts earlier in March (e.g., around March 9–10 in areas like Rajpura), where searches were also conducted without confirmed payloads.
Local authorities have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel. No advisories for civilian evacuation have been issued, but the situation is being closely monitored.
