Police Arrests Facebook Page User in Pulwama for allegedly promoting
Srinagar, Sept 21 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a Facebook user alleged of promoting anti-national activities in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
““`In order to maintain peace & tranquillity, Police in Pulwama have taken commendable action against anti-national activities by arresting a social media user who was inciting the general public and promoting anti-state activities”, reads a statement issued to GNS.
“It has come to light that an individual was running a fake social media account with the name “Pulwama News” and was involved in uploading videos and pictures of militants killed in the Kokernag encounter. This account was created to promote the activities of the militants and spread fear among the general public, which posed a severe threat to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country”, reads the statement.
“Accordingly, a case FIR No. 98/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation was initiated.”
“During the course of investigation, the accused identified as Ashiq Ah Khan son of Bashir Ah Khan resident of Niloora Khan Mohalla has been arrested for carrying out such unlawful activities. The investigation of the case is going on”, reads the statement.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the Police to nab the miscreants who are inimical to the peace and tranquillity. We stand together in the fight against militancy and will continue to work towards a peaceful, safe and prosperous future for all citizens”, reads the statement further. (GNS)
