Arnia Police Bust Illicit Liquor Racket: Over 2000 Litres of Desi Liquor Seized from Underground Drums in a House, Two Arrested

Jammu (J&K): In a major crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, Arnia Police conducted a raid in village Alaa (Ala) under Bishnah tehsil and recovered approximately 2000 litres of illicit desi liquor (locally known as lahan, the raw material for country-made liquor).

Acting on specific intelligence that a woman was running an illegal liquor operation from her house, a police team from Police Station Arnia, led by SHO Gurmeet Singh, raided the premises. During the search, officers found large quantities of lahan stored in multiple drums buried underground, turning the residential house into what appeared to be a full-fledged illicit distillery.

Police seized the entire consignment on the spot and destroyed it. Two persons, including a woman and her son, have been arrested in connection with the case.

The operation highlights the police’s continued efforts against bootlegging in the border areas of Jammu district. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to uncover any larger network involved.

This raid has once again raised questions about how residential properties are being misused for illegal activities in the region.
