Bibhav Kumar close aide to Delhi CM Kejriwal has approached the Delhi High Court to challenge a trial court’s decision denying him bail in an assault case on Maliwal
Bibhav Kumar, a close aide to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has approached the Delhi High Court to challenge a trial court’s decision denying him bail in an assault case filed by AAP MP Swati Maliwal. The incident allegedly took place on May 13 at the Chief Minister’s residence, where Maliwal claims she was physically assaulted by Kumar. In response, Kumar’s legal team has requested the preservation of CCTV footage from the residence to support his defense.
The context of the case includes allegations from both sides. Maliwal asserts that she was assaulted by Kumar, while AAP leaders, including Atishi, suggest that Maliwal’s actions were politically motivated and orchestrated by the BJP to malign the party and its leaders. A video has been released by AAP which they claim contradicts Maliwal’s version of events, showing her acting aggressively and without visible signs of injury.
Kumar has also filed a counter-complaint against Maliwal, accusing her of threatening behavior and attempting to create a false narrative. The situation has heightened political tensions, with accusations of conspiracies being exchanged between AAP and BJP.
