Body of one missing paratrooper has been recovered in the upper reaches of Kokernag, South Kashmir

The body of one missing paratrooper has been recovered in the upper reaches of Kokernag, South Kashmir, following a deadly avalanche or snowstorm during an anti-terror operation three days ago. Search operations by the Army continue to locate a second missing soldier, but efforts are hampered by severe weather, deep snow, and challenging terrain.

The recovered soldier was found with his rucksack and weapon, indicating a weather-related accident as the likely cause of death. Both missing personnel belonged to an elite para unit conducting a combing operation in the Ahlan Gadole area based on intelligence of terrorist presence.

Preliminary assessment suggests hypothermia or injuries from the avalanche/snowstorm as the cause of death. Search for Second SoldierSearch operations, now into their third day, involve ground teams and helicopters for aerial reconnaissance. Dense vegetation, rough terrain, and inclement weather have significantly slowed rescue efforts, with temperature drops and fresh snowfall worsening conditions.

No further updates on the identity of the recovered soldier or the fate of the missing commando have been officially released as of today. Operations are actively underway to trace the second soldier.
