DC Samba chairs district-level NCORD committee meeting

Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Abhishek Sharma today chaired the district-level committee meeting under Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) at Conference Hall, DC office, Samba to discuss various measures to curb drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district.

Among others the meeting was attended by SSP Samba, Vinay kumar, ADC Samba, Suresh Sharma, Principal GDC Samba, Vijaypur and Gadhwal, representative from BSF including 2IC Jay Prakash and Deputy Commandant Deepak Kumar, ACR Samba, Kusum Chib, SDM Gaghwal, SDM Vijaypur, DIO and other district and Sectoral officers.

The meeting discussed various issues related to the incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern, hot spots of drug use in the district. The meeting also discussed action taken on directions issued in the previous NCORD meeting.

DC Samba stressed the need of comprehensive awareness programs against drug abuse instructed and all stakeholders to conduct drives in schools, colleges etc. in a holistic approach to target the young population and also by involving parents as well.

DC underscored the need for sustained efforts from law enforcement agencies to check on use of substance and asked stakeholders to work in a coordinated manner. He also directed the district officers to submit a monthly progress report for compilation of coffee table book. It is pertinent to mention here that CCTV cameras have been installed in 98% medicine shops in district Samba.

Furthermore, SDM’s were directed to convene meeting at sub division level, installation of sign boards in Nasha Mukht panchayats and also conduct randomly checking of medicine shops and ensure computerized billing.
