Watch: DC Samba inspects repair and renovation work of Mohargarh Fort
Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma visited the Mohargarh Heritage Site today to review the ongoing works under the “Revival of Heritage” project.
Samba district shares boundaries with Jammu, Udhampur and Kathua districts. It has four historical forts – namely Mohargarh fort, Dhergarh fort , Malkotgarh and Bhupnergarh fort. The Mohargarh fort is located in Nud block of district Samba. It is one of the places in Jammu that has a rich cultural and architectural legacy.
The “Revival of Heritage” project aims to restoration, preservation and maintenance of architecture and heritage structures and promote them as tourist attractions.
During his visit, Sharma found that the construction work of R/wall and first floor walling has been completed. He directed the executing agency to expedite the work and ensure preservation of Heritage Look and quality standards.
He also directed the concerned officers to chalk out the plans for creating better facilities and amenities to make Mohargarh an attractive tourist destination. He said that the fort is a symbol of Heritage of Samba and Strategically located and one of the most prominent forts. The project would boost the local economy and generate employment opportunities for the youth.
It is pertinent to mention that Mohargarh fort is one of the most prominent and Beautiful forts of Samba. It is ardly 30 minutes distance from Samba Town , this historic fort offers a great view of the Shivaliks.
