J&K: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Launches Eco-Friendly Souvenir Initiative on World Environment Day
Katra, June 5, 2024 — In a pioneering effort to foster environmental sustainability, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has unveiled a new eco-friendly initiative, distributing plants as souvenirs to devotees. This green campaign was inaugurated on World Environment Day by Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer of SMVDSB.
The new saplings outlet, named Vaishnavi Vatika, was officially opened at the Niharika Complex in Katra. This initiative aims to encourage pilgrims to contribute to the environment by planting and nurturing these saplings, promoting a greener and more sustainable future.
Anshul Garg emphasized the importance of integrating environmental consciousness with spiritual practices, noting that this initiative not only enhances the devotees’ experience but also reinforces the board’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The distribution of plants as souvenirs is expected to inspire millions of pilgrims visiting the shrine to take part in conserving nature.
