PM Modi Criticizes Congress on Article 370: Calls for Accountability in Upcoming Elections

Nanded, Maharashtra, Nov 9: Addressing a large crowd in Nanded, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a sharp critique of the Congress, accusing it of aligning with Pakistan’s stance on Article 370. His remarks emphasises his government’s achievements in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of the article, which granted special autonomy to the region.

“We love Jammu and Kashmir, they love Article 370,” PM Modi said, referencing Congress’s recent statements on the matter. He emphasized that the removal of Article 370 had significantly curbed terrorism in the region, brought democracy to the grassroots, and extended rights to marginalized communities, including Dalits, for the first time in over seven decades.

“Was the tricolour hoisted in Lal Chowk or not? Did people celebrate Diwali in Lal Chowk or not? Democracy has strengthened there,” he noted, pointing to visible changes in the region’s landscape and political atmosphere. According to Modi, Pakistan and Congress were the only entities troubled by these developments, with Pakistan’s calls for Article 370’s restoration now echoed by Congress in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.

He urged voters to consider these actions in the upcoming elections: “Can we forgive such a Congress? Will you punish such a Congress or not? Will you defeat them in this election or not? Will you teach them a lesson or not?”

The Prime Minister’s speech has sparked strong reactions across political circles, with BJP leaders rallying in support of Modi’s position, while Congress leaders have defended their stance, citing constitutional concerns and regional sensitivities around Article 370.
