Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tenders Resignation to President Droupadi Murmu
New Delhi, June 5, 2024 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan today to tender his resignation, along with the resignation of the Union Council of Ministers. The President has accepted the resignation and requested Prime Minister Modi and the Union Council of Ministers to continue in office until a new government is formed.
This procedural move comes as the term of the current government concludes, paving the way for the establishment of a new administration following the recent general elections. President Murmu’s request for the incumbent government to remain in a caretaker capacity ensures the continuity of governance until the transition to the new government is complete.
Further developments are awaited as the political landscape evolves with the formation of the new government.
