SAMBA POLICE ORGANISED GRAND DANGAL AT BORDER VILLAGE SANOORA;

DRUGS ABUSE ERADICATION IS THE OBJECTIVE BEHIND : BENAM TOSH

SAMBA, March 19 : Police today organised a grand ‘dangal’ ( wrestling competition) at border village Sanoora situated near international border in Samba sector where thousands of people thronged dangal venue and enjoyed impressive chhinj mela.

SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Addl. SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, DySP Garu Ram Bhardwaj, SHO Ghagwal Bharat Bhushan and Chouki Officer Rajpura Sudhir Charak felicitated the wrestlers (pahalwans) with cash money garlands who emerged out winners. BDC Chairman Rajpura Radha Krishan, Sarpanch Rajpura Suresh Basotra, Sarpanch Sanoora Davinder Singh, Sarpanch Madoon Ram Dhan, Naib Sarpanch Sanoora Dhanwanti Devi, Panch Rajpura Kuldeep Kumar, Panch Sanoora Neelam Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Pushpa Rani, renowed social activists Kulbushan Singh and Rajesh Upadhay graced the occasion with their benign presence. 

First prize ( ‘ badi mali ‘) was won by Rashid Pahalwan of Vijaypur defeating Zakir Pahalwan of Punjab while second prize/mali was won by SPO Raj Singh of Taloor Samba defeating Rahul Pahalwan of Vijaypur. Over fifty wrestlers ( pahalwans) of Punjab, Samba, Kathua and Jammu participated in the grand dangal and all bouts remained interesting. The public of border villages appreciated the initiative of police regarding organizing sports and other activities in border area of Samba and Ramgarh sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Samba Benam Tosh said that the main objective of Jammu Kashmir Police behind organising dangal and other sports activities under CAP is to completely eradicate the menace of drugs abuse from society and save the precious lives of addicted youth. He further informed that Police is going to organise several other sports activities in Samba district in near future and advised sportsperson to get themselves ready to take part.
