SAMBA POLICE REGISTERED TWO FIRs FOR ILLEGAL MINING IN HOLY DEVIKA RIVER: ARRESTED 2 ACCUSED, SEIZED 9 MORE VEHICLES

209 Vehicles Seized For Illegal Mining In Past Ten Months : SSP Samba Benam Tosh

Samba, Nov 11 : Under the overall supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh, Samba police has registered two separate FIRs for illegal mining in holy Devika river in Purmandal and Utterbehni areas of Samba district and arrested two accused and seized nine (09) more vehicles used in illegal mining.

Two separate cases —- FIR No.16/2023 and FIR No.17/2023 have been registered at Police Station Purmandal and through PP Utterbehni and investigation is underway.

The arrested accused have been identified as Vishvajeet s/o Subash Chander r/o Sadral tehsil Bari Brahmana district Samba and Parshotam Kumar s/o Som Dutt r/o Lovley tehsil Bari Brahmana district Samba.

It is first stringent legal action taken by Samba police in the year 2023 to curb illegal mining. Earlier, in the month of May-2023 police had registered one FIR against mining contractors for overcharging and had arrested two accused.

Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that a total of two hundred nine (209) vehicle have been seized by Samba police in past ten months, three FIRs have been registered in connection with illegal mining business, four (04) accused have been arrested and fine amounting to several lacs has been got imposed upon the defaulters.
