A historic moment was witnessed today in the village of Belian, in the Sumb block of Samba district, when the first suspension bridge over the Basantar River was inaugurated for the first time since independence.
This important bridge was inaugurated and dedicated to the public by Samba MLA Surjeet Singh Slathia.Because this area is hilly, rivers and streams overflow during the rainy season, causing significant difficulties for people—especially schoolchildren—in commuting. The construction of this suspension bridge will bring significant relief to local residents and make their daily lives much easier. The people of Belian expressed their heartfelt gratitude and joy to the MLA for this commendable initiative.
Locals say that this bridge will not only make their travel safer but will also add a new dimension to the development of the area.
