On Friday, a special team of security agencies raided a prominent private hospital in the Dhar area of Pathankot district and arrested a Kashmiri doctor. According to intelligence sources, the person arrested by the agency has been identified as Dr. Raees Ahmad Bhat, son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat, resident of village Bona, Post Office Dialgam, District Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir (UT). The raid took place on Friday. The agency arrested the Kashmiri doctor around 11:00 am. Dr. Raees Ahmad Bhat, 45, holds an MBBS, MS, FMG, and is a professor of surgery. According to intelligence sources, Dr. Raees Ahmad Bhat worked at Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, from 2020 to 2021. The alleged doctor was in telephone contact with staff at Al Falah University and with Dr. Umar, the main accused in the bomb blast outside Delhi’s Red Fort. Security agencies have arrested the Kashmiri doctor for questioning and establishing the facts.
It is not yet clear which agency arrested the doctor, whether it was the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi’s Special Cell, or any other central agency. No agency has yet confirmed the arrest of the Kashmiri doctor. It is noteworthy that many hospitals in Pathankot district employ doctors from Kashmir, and their investigation is crucial for the security of Pathankot district, as Pathankot district is home to a large Indian Army and Indian Air Force base, and a terrorist attack occurred there in 2016. The arrest of the Kashmiri doctor has created a stir among local security and intelligence agencies, and the agencies are on full alert.
