Afghanistan Claims Pakistani F-16 Shot Down Amid Escalating War

Kabul, Feb 27: Afghanistan has made a bold claim of downing a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet that allegedly entered its airspace during today’s fierce clashes, sharing dramatic video of burning wreckage on social media.

The footage, posted by Afghan defense accounts, shows debris with what appears to be a serial number and Pakistani markings, coming hours after Pakistan bombed Kabul and other cities while declaring “open war” on the Taliban government.

Tolo News cited sources saying Afghan forces hit the US-made jet as Pakistan conducted airstrikes on militant targets, but Islamabad flatly denies losing any aircraft—all jets reportedly returned safely.

The unverified video has exploded online amid tit-for-tat border violence, with both sides reporting dozens of casualties and no independent confirmation yet on the wreckage’s true origin.

This intensifies the spiraling conflict, following failed Qatar-Turkey talks and accusations over cross-border militants.
