Jammu: In a strong anti-narcotics drive, authorities in Jammu demolished the house of a drug peddler in the Beli Charana area (Nikki Tawi) who is currently lodged in jail in connection with a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.The action was taken against a drug Peddler locally named Pappy, a resident of Beli Charana in the Nikki Tawi area.
According to officials, the structure — a Residential house & allied constructions built on government/state land — was linked to proceeds from drug trafficking. The peddler was recently booked in an NDPS case, prompting the demolition as part of measures to deter narcotics-related activities.
This demolition forms part of ongoing efforts by the Jammu and Kashmir administration and police to crack down on drug networks. Similar actions have been likely to be reported in other areas, including commercial properties attached under the NDPS Act when found to be illegally constructed on public land or funded by illicit drug money.
Officials emphasized that such stern steps send a clear message: properties acquired or built through drug peddling will not be spared. The drive aligns with the broader ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan’ of 100 days aimed at making the region drug-free.Local residents have mixed reactions, with many supporting firm action against drug menace while some raised concerns over the process. Police and revenue officials carried out the operation with adequate security.
This incident highlights the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards drug peddlers and their ill-gotten assets in Jammu and Kashmir.
