Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Multi-Storeyed Bus Stand at Thandi Khui Samba

Samba, January 29, 2026: In a significant boost to public transport infrastructure in the Samba district, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the newly constructed modern bus stand at Thandi Khui in Vijaypur. The state-of-the-art multi-storeyed facility, built at a cost of ₹18.53 crore, aims to greatly enhance passenger convenience, improve regional connectivity, and provide superior transport services to the local population and commuters.

The bus stand features improved passenger amenities, well-organised parking facilities, and modern design elements intended to reduce traffic congestion while elevating the overall travel experience. Officials have been directed to operationalise the facility for public use at the earliest, ensuring full utilisation of its infrastructure.

CM Omar Abdullah was accompanied during the inauguration by Advisor to the Chief Minister Mr. Nasir Sogami, District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Samba Mr. Keshav Dutt Sharma, and MLA Vijaypur Mr. Chander Parkash & MLA Samba Surjit Singh Slathia. The event highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to upgrading essential transport and infrastructure projects across Jammu and Kashmir.

This inauguration comes as part of the Chief Minister’s visit to Samba district, where he also laid the foundation stone for a 10 MVA Receiving Station at Harminder to strengthen the area’s power infrastructure and ensure reliable electricity supply.

The new bus stand is expected to serve as a vital hub, benefiting thousands of daily commuters in the Vijaypur and surrounding areas by offering safer, more efficient, and commuter-friendly facilities.
