DIG JSK RANGE CHAIRS SECURITY CUM CRIME REVIEW MEETING AT DPO SAMBA

Samba: April 20, 2026: The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Sh. Shridhar Patil, IPS today visited District Police Office Samba and chaired a comprehensive Security-cum-Crime review meeting with all Supervisory Officers, SHOs, Incharge Police Posts, Incharge Border Police Posts and other Officers of Samba Police at Conference Hall DPO Samba.

On his arrival, the DIG-P was warmly received by SSP Samba Sh. Anuj Kumar, IPS and was also presented a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the District Police Contingent.

At the outset, the DIG-P held one-to-one interactions with all participating officers to assess ground-level functioning and challenges. Thereafter, Addl. SP Samba delivered the welcome address and gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the functioning of District Police Samba, along with an overview of the crime and security scenario of the district.

Emphasizing the strategic sensitivity of the border areas, the DIG-P directed officers to maintain strict vigilance and heightened alertness to effectively foil any evil designs of Anti-National Elements (ANEs). Officers were instructed to ensure robust naka checking, increased patrolling and seamless coordination with other security agencies to ensure a strong security grid along the border.

A detailed crime review was also conducted wherein the DIG-P examined cases registered across the district, their investigation status and disposal. He laid special emphasis on expediting the investigation of pending cases and ensuring timely disposal as per timeline prescribed in New Criminal Laws (NCL).

The DIG-P further reviewed the status of Inquest proceedings, absconders, history sheeters and gangsters. He directed officers to maintain proper surveillance over criminal elements and take all necessary steps to curb the activities of criminals, particularly organized crime groups and gangsters, so as to ensure that the general public feels safe and secure.

During the meeting, the DIG-P laid special emphasis on the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and directed all officers to take strict legal action against drug smugglers and peddlers to effectively curb the drug menace. He further exhorted officers to take stringent action against bovine smugglers and other criminals. All officers were instructed to focus on preventive policing and ensure that habitual offenders and troublemakers are dealt with strictly under the law.

At the conclusion of the meeting, SSP Samba thanked the chairing officer for his guidance and assured that District Police Samba will work as a team to come up with the expectations of the general public and senior police formations.
