Fatal Collision on Jammu Ring Road Claims Life of Bishnah Resident

Jammu, November 4, 2025 – In a tragic road accident on the Jammu Ring Road, Rajinder Singh, popularly known as Rocky, a resident of Chak Avtara in Bishnah tehsil, lost his life when the Hyundai Verna car he was traveling in collided head-on with a speeding truck.

The mishap occurred yesterday near the Bishnah bypass stretch, a busy section of the Ring Road connecting Jammu city to surrounding areas. Eyewitnesses reported that the Verna, bearing a local registration, was en route from Jammu when the truck—allegedly overtaking another vehicle—veered into the wrong lane, leading to the high-impact crash.

Rajinder Singh (Rocky), aged around 35, died on the spot due to severe head and chest injuries. His two companions, Vikas Saini and Ajay Kumar, both residents of the Bishnah area, sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu. Doctors described their condition as stable but under close observation in the ICU.

Police from Bishnah Police Station reached the site promptly, clearing the wreckage that blocked traffic for over two hours. The truck driver fled the scene but has been identified, and a manhunt is underway. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash driving and causing death by negligence. The truck has been impounded for investigation.

Local residents and family members gathered at the accident spot, expressing grief and demanding stricter enforcement of speed limits on the Ring Road, which has witnessed multiple fatal crashes in recent months.

Rajinder, a local businessman and father of two, was returning home after attending a family function in Jammu. His sudden demise has left the Chak Avtara village in shock.

Traffic police have appealed to drivers to adhere to lane discipline and avoid overtaking on undivided sections. An official probe is ongoing to determine if factors like poor lighting or overloading contributed to the tragedy.

This incident highlights the rising toll of road accidents in Jammu region, with officials urging the public to prioritize safety amid increasing vehicular traffic on arterial roads.
