LG Manoj Sinha Visits Samba on December 9, 2025: Foundation stone laid for 105 new 3-BHK climate-resilient houses for families affected by recent flash floods

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Samba district on December 9, 2025, to lay the foundation stone for 105 new 3-BHK climate-resilient houses for families affected by recent flash floods.

Purpose: The primary purpose was to initiate reconstruction funded by the NGO High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India) at a cost of Rs. 10.50 crore, part of a larger 449-house project including 344 in nearby Kathua. These prefabricated smart houses include modern amenities, boundary walls, cowsheds, free life insurance for 15 years, annual health check-ups, and five years of maintenance, with completion targeted within six months.

Key Issues Addressed

Sinha highlighted rehabilitation for flood-affected families, directing officials to include all genuine beneficiaries and emphasizing collective action against disasters. He commended rapid infrastructure growth in Samba post-2019, focusing on better education, health, employment, and social justice under PM Narendra Modi’s guidance. Assistance of Rs. 1.38 crore was disbursed to Samba families, alongside gratitude to responders for relief efforts.
