Srinagar, J&K: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Central Government, alleging that its policies have failed to ensure safety in Jammu & Kashmir and have instead contributed to insecurity in the national capital.
In a strongly worded statement shared on her official social media handle, Mufti said, “You told the world that everything is alright in Kashmir, but the troubles of Kashmir echoed right in front of the Red Fort. You promised to make J&K safe, but instead of fulfilling that promise, your policies have made Delhi unsafe.”
She questioned the government’s claims on national security and described the recent incidents involving radicalisation of educated youth as deeply alarming. “If a well-educated youth, a doctor, kills himself and others by strapping RDX to his body, it means there is no safety in the nation,” she remarked.Accusing the Centre of using communal politics for political gain, Mufti added, “You may get votes by doing Hindu–Muslim politics, but in which direction is the nation heading?” She also cast doubts on the commitment of some Central Government members, saying she was unsure “how many people in the Central Government are true nationalists.”
The former Chief Minister’s comments come amid renewed political debate over security, radicalisation of the youth in Jammu & Kashmir.
