Jammu, April 7: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday handed over appointment orders to 124 candidates from the Jammu Division under the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS) and SRO-43 (along with provisions under SRO-94 in some reports).
The event took place at the Jammu Convention Centre, where Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Sogami (also referred to as Nasir Aslam Wani Sogami), was present.
Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said: “I stand in solidarity with the families who have endured immense loss. These appointments are a step towards ensuring support, dignity, and stability in their lives during difficult times.”
He urged the new appointees to serve with dedication, integrity, and compassion, adding: “I urge all the appointees to serve with dedication, integrity, and compassion, and to carry forward the legacy of service of their loved ones with commitment.”
The Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme provides compassionate appointments to eligible dependents of government employees or others who have suffered loss in the line of duty or due to militancy-related incidents, aiming to offer financial and emotional support to grieving families.
During the programme, CM Abdullah also highlighted the need for reforms in the RAS to make the process faster, more transparent, and efficient, addressing delays in pending cases.
This distribution of appointment orders is seen as a significant step by the J&K government towards compassionate governance and providing timely relief to deserving families in the Jammu Division.
