Samba: March 23, 2026: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has successfully foiled two separate bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Stations Purmandal and Ghagwal, arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued two (02) bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers. The vehicle involved in the illegal transportation of bovine has also been seized.
Acting on information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Station Purmandal has successfully foiled bovine smuggling attempt, arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued one bovine which was being smuggled by foot at village Purmandal.
The arrested bovine smugglers have been identified as Sadam Hussain Bookad S/o Mukhtar Mohd Bookad and Babar Hussain Bookad S/o Nizam-ud-Din Bookad both residents of Pooru, Adigam district Anantnag presently residing at Rajool tehsil Bari Brahmana district Samba.
A case FIR No. 14/2026 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Purmandal and investigation started.
Similarly, acting on information received from reliable sources that one Alto Car bearing registration No. JK08A-7233 loaded with bovine coming via border road has turned turtle at Madoon due to over speeding, a team of Police Post Rajpura of PS Ghagwal reached the spot, rescued a bovine which was tied in a cruel manner in the said car and was being transported illegally without any valid permission. The vehicle involved in the illegal transportation of bovine has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 33/2026 u/s 281/223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
