Samba, September 26, 2025 (Special Correspondent): A heart-wrenching incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district has raised serious questions about medical negligence. A woman passed away just 30 minutes after giving birth to twins, with her family alleging gross negligence by Kristu Jyoti Hospital. The family claims that the doctors left the patient unattended after a sudden cesarean operation and went home, leading to a rapid deterioration in her condition. The bereaved family has demanded a thorough investigation and justice, while the hospital administration has yet to issue an official statement. The brother of the deceased told that the deceased woman (name withheld) was a resident of Samba and had been regularly visiting Kristu Jyoti Hospital for prenatal check-ups. The doctors had assured them that her pregnancy was normal and that she would have a normal delivery. On the evening of September 25, she was admitted to the hospital due to labor pains. Suddenly the doctors suddenly decided to perform a cesarean operation, which contradicted earlier assurances. Immediately after the surgery, the deceased delivered twins but the joy was short lived. Her pulse and blood pressure kept dropping, but no staff was present to respond. We arranged an ambulance ourselves and rushed her to the district hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.” This tragic sequence unfolded within just 30 minutes of the delivery, leaving the family in shock. The twin babies are reportedly safe, but the family alleges a lack of transparency throughout the process. “We trusted the hospital, but this turned out to be a betrayal. Our daughter-in-law lost her life due to the doctors’ negligence,” a family member said, visibly emotional.
Family’s Allegations: Foul Play and Demand for Justice
The family has accused the hospital of ‘foul play,’ claiming that there was a lack of essential equipment and monitoring during the operation. “There was no proper care or attention post-surgery. The staff didn’t respond in time,” they alleged. “We demand a high-level inquiry and strict action against those responsible. Such negligence must not happen again,” a family member added. The incident has sparked outrage among locals in Samba, with many taking to social media to question the hospital’s facilities, especially the lack of adequate healthcare services in rural areas. One resident remarked, “Kristu Jyoti Hospital is linked to a religious institution, but even basic care was missing here. The government must intervene immediately as so many incidents of such type are already happened there
