Administration Cuts Off Water & Power Supply to Illegal Rohingya Settlers in Jammu: Residents of Samba also Urged to Do the Same

Jammu, Oct 23:
In a decisive move, the Jammu and Kashmir Administration has disconnected the water and electricity supply to the illegal Rohingya settlements in the Bahu area of Jammu. The action was initiated following directives from the Tehsildar Bahu to the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Power Development Department (PDD) officials on the complaint of local residents.

The step is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to act against illegal encroachments and unauthorized settlements in the Union Territory. The Rohingya settlers, who have been residing in parts of Jammu without valid documentation, have long been accused of straining public utilities and local resources.

Local residents have widely appreciated the administration’s action, terming it a necessary measure to safeguard the region’s demographic and resource balance.

Citizens from Samba District have also urged the authorities to undertake a similar survey and verification drive to identify and remove such illegal occupants from the area. They have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Samba to take prompt action, citing that these unauthorized settlers are becoming a burden on public resources.
