CBC Rajouri organises awareness program on ‘Swachhta Action Plan’

 

RAJOURI: An awareness programme on ‘Swachhta Action Plan’ was today organized by Central Bureau of Communication Field Office Rajouri (J&K), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.

The programme was held in Garib Nawaz High School, Dhanidhar and attended by Mohd. Arif, President Municipal Council, Rajouri; Tariq Hussain, Chairman Garib Nawaz Public High School, Dhanodhar; Nasir Ahmad, Social Activist; Azgar Ali, Principal, Members of the staff, locals and Students.

The programme was aimed to acquaint, sensitize and mobilize the local masses about Swachhta Action Plan being observed throughout India to intensify awareness on the importance of Swachh Bharat Mission.

To remind masses about making India open defecation free, Making Indian Clean and Green and encouraging the common masses to work for cleanliness of surroundings.

Mohd Arif, while speaking on the occasion, said that each and every citizen should spread the message of cleanliness in their family and among the residents in their neighbourhood.

General masses need to dispose of household garbage at a proper place and in the garbage collecting cabs meant for the purpose.

To avoid blockage of drains and overflow of drain water on roads, people should dispose of waste sensibly. He appreciated the efforts of CBC, Rajouri (J&K) for spreading awareness about Swachhta(cleanliness) and distribution of Dustbins and Jute Bags by the department.

Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion were Tariq Hussain, Chairman, Garib Nawaz H/S. he said that it was the duty of every citizen of the country to work for making India clean and urged the gathering to practice the habits of personal hygiene like cutting of nails washing of hands before eating and After defecation.

Yasmin Kauser and Sonia Chandan, Teachers of the host School also spoke on the occasion.

Officials from the Central Bureau of Communication also addressed the gathering and enlightened them about the working and organization of the Central Bureau of Communication. They explained the gathering the benefits of compost pit and 3-Rs viz. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. They urged the masses to refrain from open defecation & informed about the provision of incentives for any household interested in building IHHL. They also informed them that in case of lack of space in houses for IHHL people can get the benefits of Community Toilets through Urban Local Bodies or Rural Development Department.

To motivate the general masses to avoid throwing garbage in the open, the CBC Rajouri provided dustbins to 30 families for collecting domestic waste, while about 75 families were given Jute bags to encourage them to avoid use of polythene bags.

A ‘Shramdaan Activity’ (cleanliness drive) was also organized by CBC Rajouri to encourage locals to keep their surroundings clean in which local leaders led the people in cleanliness drive.
