Jammu, Sept 27: In the wake of violent protests in Leh, Jammu and Kashmir BJP Spokesperson Zorawar Singh Jamwal accused the Congress party and its INDI alliance partners, including the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of indulging in “dirty politics” and inciting unrest in Ladakh.
Speaking with ANI, Jamwal recalled that when Ladakh was granted Union Territory status, activist Sonam Wangchuk had welcomed the move, calling it the fulfilment of Ladakh’s dream. “Now, when discussions with the Central Government on Ladakh-related issues are ongoing and dates are being fixed, it is worth questioning who instigated the people of Leh and Ladakh, resulting in widespread chaos and violent incidents,” he said.
The BJP leader informed that nearly 90 people have so far been detained in connection with the protests. He alleged that J&K’s former Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were “trying to add fuel to the fire,” while the Congress was shielding them.
“I hope the people of Leh and Ladakh understand that a major conspiracy has been hatched by Congress and NC,” Jamwal added, stressing that the law would take its own course in the matter.
