In a major move to ensure transparency and quality in the Mid-Day Meal scheme, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has decided to introduce digital monitoring of Mid-Day Meal kitchens. As part of the initiative, additional CCTV cameras will be installed in kitchens to enable real-time supervision of meal preparation and distribution processes.
The step aims to enhance accountability, hygiene standards, and food safety across all MCD-run schools. Officials said that the live monitoring system will help curb any irregularities and ensure that nutritious meals reach students without compromise.
This digital oversight marks a significant stride toward improving the welfare of schoolchildren and strengthening trust in the government’s flagship midday meal programme.
