Breaking News: Nationwide Mobile Alert Test; Emergency Sirens to Sound on Phones Today

In a major step toward strengthening disaster preparedness, the Government of India will conduct a nationwide trial of its Disaster Alert System today, during which emergency sirens will sound on mobile phones across the country.

As part of the test, people may receive sudden alerts accompanied by loud warning tones on their devices. Officials clarified that this is only a trial exercise aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the system and ensuring timely communication during real emergencies such as earthquakes, floods, or other natural disasters.

The alert system has been developed to deliver immediate warnings directly to citizens, even in critical situations, helping minimize risks and improve response time.

Authorities have urged the public not to panic upon receiving the alert and to treat it as a routine test. The trial will help assess system performance and identify any improvements needed for future emergency responses.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance public safety and disaster management capabilities nationwide.
